Antarctic Centre : Given its proximity to the Antarctic, New Zealand is an appropriate jumping off point for trips, etc. Christchurch in particular has this big complex with a big visitor area and wings for different countries who have bases on Antarctica. In fact the people we went rafting with were a group of scientists from the US waiting for the weather to improve so they could head South.

St. Louis # 1 Cemetery and the Mighty Mississippi : Maybe we weren't in the mood to fully appreciate this city, but frankly we weren't impressed. It was HOT, humid and dirty. We did however make the obligatory pilgramage to Bourbon Street, and toured a cemetery to learn about New Orleans history.

There are actually fun things to do in Texas : We traversed the widest part of the state from east to west. Most of the pictures feature Austin, which is not a bad city for Texas. Other highlights are from the Houston Space Center and a collapsed limestone grotto called Hamilton Pool.

Ercolano (Herculaneum) : A smaller but better excavated and more complete town than Pompeii. Only a few pictures have captions, because even after listening to the audio guide, we can't tell you much about the houses. End of Tax Season Getaway : Well the 2009 Tax Season is over and Stacy wanted to take a trip to celebrate. We headed out on April 16th for Port Angeles and explore the Olympic Peninsula for the weekend. Stops included Neah Bay, Forks and a drive down the cost via US 101. Sunday was spent in Olympia where we attended an experienced riders course. Then home on Monday via hwy 7 and 12, then back over Blewett Pass. Weather was great and a good time was had, minus the 8 miles of stop and go traffic we suffered through on I5.
